The Chelsea

We had lunch at The Chelsea and it was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was so kind. We had the fried green tomatoes (my favorite food of all time) and they were to die for. I followed that with the BLT (like I said, fried green tomatoes FOREVER) and it was perfect. The house chips are crisp and delightful. The setting of this restaurant is so charming. We had lunch among a room full of southern women celebrating another trip around the sun and it made me wish I lived here and could also grow older while eating the fried green tomatoes on a regular basis. Highly, highly recommend The Chelsea.

Nice place with a friendly and efficient staff. Our waitress was very attentive and took care of our every need. The food was quite tasty and plentiful and with the relaxed feel of the place we will definitely return in the future.

Great food and look beautiful location in downtown. New Orleans pasta was very good and went with shrimp, chicken, and sausage. My wife enjoyed the paella as well. Highly recommend!

The Chelsea is located in downtown historic New Bern. There is ample parking near the the restaurant but it can get crowded at times so come early if you can. We have been for several business meetings and the food has always been full of flavor. They are know for their Cream of Crab soup, and Shrimp and Grits. There is a full bar downstairs and yiue can do fine dining up stairs and casual downstairs.they have a good choice of desserts to choose from as well. If you are in New Bern I would definitely recommend The Chelsea during your visit!

I love this restaurant. I stop in every time I am in town and the food and service are too notch. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy spot to grab dinner.

Great atmosphere and setting. Amazing signature dishes and entrees du jour. Moderately priced, but well worth it! A definite recommendation for a complete dining experience!

Nice atmosphere, great service, good food. I had the Maryland style crab cakes and my wife had the chicken bruschetta. Both of us were very happy with our entrees. We shared a slice of the coconut cream pie which was not good, however. It was quite stiff, almost gummy, and not at all creamy, with a consistency like chilled marshmallow fluff. A different recipe would be a very good idea, IMO. Otherwise, our meal was very good, as usual, and we will be back.

This place was so great. We shot a wedding here and the way they worked with us was exactly what we needed to do our job. The food that they served for the wedding was amazing and the drinks were very good!

My first time there was our company Xmas party. The food was great. My only complaint is I thought the sweet tea was too sweet, but that's my opinion.

Had an amazing dinner here. Our waitress Kristie was great to talk to and very knowledgeable about everything on the menu and wine list. I recommend the New Orleans Pasta and brussel sprout salad!

Fantastic food and atmosphere. We ordered the Elk with Blueberry sauce and the Crab Cakes. The Elk was superbly prepared and the sauce was a perfect compliment. The Crab Cakes can be ordered fried or broiled or one of each which is what we chose. Excellent both ways!

Best steak in town! Friendly atmosphere this is one of our favorite restaurants since moving here 3 months ago. Love it!!

Stopped forlunch time prices were great and food was terrific.

Mid-week around 7pm they weren't crowded. I don't know if that was normal or the cold temperatures deterred others. There was plenty of staff on hand and service was impeccable. I opted to sit at the bar and noted frequent customers being greeted warmly by the staff (who doesn't love that?). Dinner rolls were hot out of the oven and delicious. I had the brown butter barbecue chicken for dinner and everything about the dish was well executed.

What a great place! We sat upstairs with a view down Broad St. The food was an amazing. We were stuffed but had to have dessert anyway.

We have been to the Chelsea a few times now since moving here. There is one waitress in particular that is amazing at her job with warm welcoming personality and very knowledgeable about the menu and how to treat customers Kristina is just amazing at her job. The food is always wonderful and just the way we won’t it every time we come in. There is one thing change your menus so it no longer has the duck spring rolls on it. It’s crazy to make your staff say your out of it when you haven’t made them in months just print out a new front page. That is my only complaint.

I've been multiple times for lunch and dinner. I'd never had anything but a great experience and food. I'm from New York, and have never liked grits! I had been told many times how wonderful the shrimp and grits are here, so I tried them. I LOVED the shrimp and grits, and everything I've had!

Very charming atmosphere and rich in history. We arrived 30 minutes before closing time but we received a warm welcome. Our server was friendly and helpful with answering questions. I ordered the crab cake sandwich and my husband got a salad with grilled shrimp on top. We also got a slice of their chocolate cheesecake. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is clean and the restroom is also clean. We loved the location of the restaurant in such a beautiful old town.

Great food, no doubt, but parking is a bear and they don't take reservations for two.
